Your selected question
What do I need to provide as proof of my No Claim Discount (NCD)?
To confirm your NCD we need to see a document from your insurer. We can accept a current renewal notice or an official letter confirming:
- Insurer’s name
- Expiry date
- Policy number
- Your name
- Number of years NCD
In addition:
- We will only accept original documents. (Not photocopies.)
- All NCD proof must be from a UK insurer.
- Your NCD must be expressed in number of years. If it is only expressed as a percentage please ask your UK insurer to provide proof stating the equivalent number of years.
- Your NCD should be no older than 2 years. See below for further details.
Please remember to include your Direct Line policy number when sending us your proof of NCD.
NCD proof should be sent to:
Customer Service
Direct Line
2nd Floor
The Wharf
Neville Street
Leeds
LS1 4AZ
In most cases the NCD will be coming from a policy that is about to lapse and a recent renewal notice would have been sent to you by your current UK insurer. If your NCD is coming from a policy that has already expired it must not have expired more than 2 years ago. We will not accept NCD that has been unused for more than 2 years.
In some cases you will not have a current renewal notice. This might be because your current UK insurer has not sent you it yet, or you might be looking to change your insurer part way through your current policy. In these cases you should contact that insurer and ask them to provide evidence as described above.
Please note that a single set of NCD proof cannot be used at the same time on multiple live policies; it can only be used on one live policy at any one time. If you are already insured with us then there may be alternative discounts we can provide for your additional car.
It is your responsibility to provide us with proof of NCD.
